LMBC Committees and Sub-Committees

The Board of LMBC comprises sixteen elected brokers, each of whom serve for four years, with one quarter of the membership retiring by rotation each year. This body considers all matters that affect London Market brokers, with areas of specific interest and technical issues being delegated to the Executive Committees.

The Executive Committees covering the Aviation, Marine, Non-Marine and Reinsurance sectors also liaise with other Market organisations with which they have common interests. There are eight broker representatives on the Executive Committees, with each one serving a four-year term. Nominations for both LMBC and the Executive Committees are invited in November.

The Claims Committees concentrate on all claims related matters. These may be passed down from the LMBC or raised by the membership. Membership of these committees is invited for an unspecified period of time.

The Market Reform Strategy Group is responsible for developing brokers' market reform strategy and monitoring its progress. It is supported by a range of committees covering more detailed areas; BRAT for placing Issues, BEFIT for Electronic Claims Files , BASIC for Accounting & settlement and BOLT for all matters pertaining to binding authorities and lineslips.

Other committees are primarily ad hoc groups that are set up to deal with specific issues.

If you are interested in joining any of the above committees, please contact the LMBC secretariat for further information.
